Bärenstein is located in the Müglitz Valley, a region rich in castles with many sights and leisure activities near the Czech border and is worth a visit at any time of year. In addition to visiting the many castles and palaces in the region, it is also worth visiting one of the many museums in the area, taking a ride on the summer toboggan run in Altenberg or a trip to the Osterzgebirge wildlife park. Another excursion tip is a ride on the Müglitz Valley Railway, which also stops in Bärenstein. In summer, the densely wooded region in the Ore Mountains is an ideal area for cycling and hiking tours. In winter, the region is also a popular winter sports area. Skiers and winter sports enthusiasts can choose from over 70 km of groomed ski slopes in nearby Altenberg (approx. 9 km away).
