Three blocks from downtown Lockhart - and connected to Austin by the fastest highway in the nation - vintage charm abounds at this adorable, 1930s Craftsman cottage. Lovely original hardwood floors, native Osage Orange countertops, hand-hewn furniture, brand-new appliances, and exquisite mid-century decor combine the best of old and new worlds.
The primary bedroom features wraparound windows, while the guest room which can be kept closed for privacy or opened to turn the space into a large suite. The newly-installed extra-deep soaking tub is undeniably decadent, there’s a 55-inch Roku-equipped smart TV. A large, fully enclosed backyard shaded by a huge pecan tree is the perfect backdrop for a warm Texas evening.
The town of Lockhart itself is an icon of small-town Americana (immortalized in the 1996 film 'Waiting for Guffman' and largely unchanged since then), known for its ornate Victorian architecture, quaint antique shops, art galleries, and a slew of barbecue restaurants good enough to earn Lockhart the title of BBQ Capital of Texas. There's also tons of other great local fare to sample from coffee shops to bakeries and everything in between.
